| Summary, etc. | Cet article défend l’hypothèse que les luttes pour l’accès ou la défense des ressources naturelles en Amérique Latine ne sont pas seulement des luttes environnementales. Il prend pour cas d’étude le Mouvement des 13 villages, qui a surgi dans l’État du Morelos, au Mexique, en 2007, pour protéger une source d’eau dénommée Chihuahuita contre la construction de nouveaux lotissements. L’article montre que si le problème a été défini en termes environnementaux dans l’espace public, c’est surtout à une fin stratégique, pour renforcer l’adhésion de l’opinion publique à la cause. En réalité, dans l’espace local, la protection de la source Chihuahuita est surtout appréhendée comme un enjeu identitaire. Les communautés paysannes souhaitent conserver la source Chihuahuita et le réseau qu’elle alimente parce qu’ils sont le support d’une forme d’organisation sociale et permettent la reconstruction mémorielle du groupe. |

| Summary, etc. | This paper shows that movements that fight for acceding or defending natural resources in Latin America have not only environmental purposes. It takes for study case the Thirteen villages’ movement that appeared in the State of Morelos in Mexico, in 2007, to defend a spring named Chihuahuita against housing development. The paper evidences that the problem was defined as an environmental topic in public arenas in order to gain support to the cause. In fact, in private space, the struggle for Chihuahuita spring is seen as an identitary stake. Peasant communities want to conserve the Chihuahuita spring and the water network it supplies because they support social organization and contribute to the memory reconstruction of the group. |
