Summary, etc. 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | In this conference transcript, the author starts from his own experience as a philosopher of law to define interdisciplinarity as a dialogue between disciplines based on epistemological and intersubjective pillars. However, three different concepts should be distinguished. Pluridisciplinarity (or multidisciplinarity) associates several disciplines, each remaining autonomous. Interdisciplinarity is a dynamic approach because each discipline sees its way of apprehending an object being modified by the confrontation with the uses of another one. Finally, transdisciplinarity crosses several disciplines but it also transcends them by working to build a new methodology. The observable gap between the interdisciplinary concerns expressed by many research teams and the lack of concrete practices can be explained by various reasons that the author details, before emphasizing that interdisciplinarity remains an ambitious and demanding challenge. |
