Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Drug Addiction – Transmitting Something from Self to SelfThis article examines the question of psychical transmission from self to self in subjects with drug addictions. In other words, it asks what addicts are indeed trying to transmit to themselves through the intermediary of their chosen drug. The essential question here revolves around the addict’s Narcissism and their notion of the bodily envelope. The nature of the psychical transmission varies depending on the way in which the addict’s chosen drug is administered, i.e. on the precise form of substance consumption. This study shows that the method of administering a given drug determines its Narcissistic effect and explores the idea that addicts who do not inject are more dependent on products to fuel their Narcissism. The type of bodily envelope created by substance abuse in subjects who inject is, we argue, of a more archaic nature than in subjects who do not. |
