520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Self-Harming during Adolescence : Shame for All to SeeShame is a negative affect regularly experienced by many teenagers. It is intimately linked with scopic cathexis, whether it bear the trace of persisting partial drives or is underpinned by narcissistic fragility. The author of this article explores her clinical practice as a psychiatrist working with teenagers and a paradigmatic clinical case to argue that, over and above the drive to master, the scopic drive and cruelty drive are central to the logic of self-harming. As such, self-harming is a means of representing internal feelings and may mark the beginning of a process in which passivity and femininity are elaborated upon and integrated.
