| Summary, etc. | Cet article présente une recherche portant sur les enjeux psychiques dans le travail soignant infirmier. Celle-ci repose sur une enquête sur trois établissements hospitaliers d’Algérie, réunissant un panel de 82 professionnels. Les résultats présentés dans cet article se fondent à la fois sur des données issues d’entretiens cliniques et de la passation d’une épreuve projective, le T.A.T [Thematic Apperception Test]). L’auteure émet l’hypothèse que les infirmiers confrontés à la souffrance et au décès des patients dont ils ont la charge, sont interpellés dans leur économie psychique, à travers la réactivation d́angoisses et conflits archaïques liés à la maladie et à la mort. Pour faire face à cette souffrance induite par le travail de soin, les soignants privilégieraient deux mécanismes de défense : la répression et ĺisolation de l’affect, se défendant ainsi du débordement émotionnel. |

| Summary, etc. | This paper presents research into the psychical stakes at play in nursing and caring, based on a survey carried out at three hospitals in Algeria among 82 healthcare professionals. The results presented here draw both on data derived from clinical interviews and a projective psychological test, the Thematic Apperception Test. The author posits that demands are made on the psychical economy of nurses confronted with the suffering and death of patients in their care, through the reactivation of anxieties and archaic conflicts associated with illness and death. As a means of facing up to the suffering carers thus experience, two defence mechanisms are called into action – repression and isolation of affects, thus enabling carers to protect themselves from becoming emotionally overwhelmed. |
