Cet article traite de sa transmission et de ses conséquences psychiques, à partir de la littérature et du travail psychothérapeutique auprès de jeunes patientes, réputées difficiles. Structurellement différente de la notion d’ambivalence, largement étudiée par Freud, la haine de la mère est envisagée dans ses liens avec l’infertilité –à laquelle conduisent inévitablement les ravages du temps - et l’envie qu’elle génère envers la fille - devenue adolescente - comme future mère potentielle. |

| Summary, etc. | At the Heart of the Mother-Daughter Relationship – How is Hatred Transmitted ? In clinical practice, the psychoanalyst is regularly confronted with hatred as a fundamental building block of the mother-daughter relationship. This article deals with how that hatred is transmitted and the psychological consequences of such transmission, from the vantage point of literature on the subject and psychotherapy with reputedly ‘difficult’ young female patients. Hatred on the part of mothers is structurally different from the notion of ambivalence posited by Freud, and is examined here as inherently bound with the question of infertility, a reality with which the ravages of time inevitably confront all women. Strong feelings of jealousy are aroused in some mothers when their daughters reach adolescence and in turn become potential mothers. |
