| Summary, etc. | Speckle tracking imaging is a relatively new technique for obtaining myocardial strain based on the tracking of speckles in gray-scale echocardiographic images. Speckles are acoustic markers that can be tracked from frame to frame over the cardiac cycle, providing non-Doppler information about global and segmental myocardial deformation. In this article, the general principles of good practice of echocardiography will be revisited in order to obtain a better evaluation of myocardial deformition and to optimize these clinical contributions in current practice. |

| Summary, etc. | L’imagerie de déformation cardiaque est une technique relativement nouvelle, qui permet d’obtenir une évaluation myocardique basée sur le suivi des speckles (« taches ») sur des images échocardiographiques en niveaux de gris. Les speckles sont des marqueurs acoustiques qui peuvent être suivis d’une image à l’autre au cours du cycle cardiaque, fournissant des informations non-Doppler sur la déformation myocardique globale et segmentaire. Dans cet article, les principes généraux de bonne pratique de l’échocardiographie seront revisités afin d’obtenir une meilleure évaluation de la déformation myocardique et d’optimiser ces apports cliniques en pratique courante. |
