| Summary, etc. | Résumé Les histoires de vie des enfants des rues présentent une particularité: leur histoire fraternelle n’est absolument pas enregistrée. En étudiant cet aspect de plus près avec l’aide de Edgardo Grinschpun, spécialiste des institutions s’occupant des enfants des rues, nous avons développé son hypothèse que les frères et soeurs ne sont pas absents dans les vies mais bien dans les histoires de vie, car ces dernières sont un produit des stratégies des institutions de tutelle. L’absence de la fraternité chez les enfants vivant dans la rue ne répond pas à une véritable absence de liens fraternels mais à l’impossibilité institutionnelle de prendre en compte la réalité de ces liens chez des enfants apparemment dépourvus de structure. Les auteurs explorent les raisons théoriques et institutionnelles de cette impossibilité. |

| Summary, etc. | The life stories of street children show a peculiar feature: their story of brotherhood is absent from all records. With the help of Edgardo Grinchpun, a widely experienced professional in the field of institutional homes for street children, the authors show that siblings are not absent from life but from life stories, for life stories are a result of institutional strategies of guardianship. The absence of siblings among street children is not due to the effective lack of bonds of brotherhood but to the institutional impossibility to consider these bonds as a reality in children allegedly devoid of any sort of supporting network. The article explores the theoretical and institutional reasons for this impossibility. |
