| Summary, etc. | RésuméLa nouvelle législation sur la signature électronique a favorisé la naissance d’une nouvelle profession: les tiers de confiance. Ce que ces derniers disent d’eux-mêmes et de leur rôle a beaucoup de points communs avec les compétences et les missions des archivistes et l’on peut donc se demander comment s’opérera la répartition des rôles entre les uns et les autres au fur et à mesure que se développera la production de documents sous une forme exclusivement numérique. L’état actuel du droit ne permet pas de trancher, mais l’économie et la sociologie fournissent en revanche des pistes intéressantes: le succès ou l’échec du modèle économique adopté par les tiers de confiance sera un élément décisif, mais l’évolution des mentalités au sein des deux communautés professionnelles comptera ensuite beaucoup. |

| Summary, etc. | New rules on electronic signatures have promoted the appearance of a new profession: trusted third parties. The way in which they conceive their job has much in common with the view of archivists; so we can discuss how competences will eventually be divided between the two communities. For now, it is not a matter of law; rather, economics and social sciences provide interesting indications. The success or failure of the business model adopted by trusted third parties will be critical, but thereafter the evolution of the two professional communities’ viewpoints will be decisive. |
