| Summary, etc. | La Belgique a inscrit la lutte contre les violences de genre à son agenda politique dès les années 1980 et s’est doté d’un arsenal législatif et de politiques de lutte contre les violences envers les femmes. Longtemps absente, la spécificité des violences faites aux femmes migrantes a récemment émergé et mené à l’adoption de lois et de politiques spécifiques. L’on s’interroge néanmoins sur leur impact réel sur la situation des femmes migrantes. La mise en œuvre des dispositions les concernant, y compris celles inclues dans la convention d’Istanbul récemment ratifiée par la Belgique, semble reposer sur une tension entre la volonté de les protéger au nom de l’égalité de traitement et de l’application du principe de gender mainstreaming et celle de contrôler les flux migratoires. |

| Summary, etc. | The Politics of the Battle Against Gender Violence in Belgium and Migrant Women: Between the Desire to Protect and Migration ControlThe fight against gender-based violence has been on the political agenda in Belgium since the 1980s and a legislative arsenal and policies to combat violence against women has been progressively adopted. The specific nature of violence against migrant women has recently emerged and led to the adoption of specific laws and policies. However, their real impact on the situation of migrant women is questionable. Implementation of relevant provisions, including those included in the Istanbul Convention recently ratified by Belgium, appear to be influenced by a tension between, on the one hand, the desire to protect them in the name of equal treatment and apply the principle of gender mainstreaming and, on the other hand, the control of migration flows. |
