| Summary, etc. | Cet article propose une analyse socio-historique du processus ayant mené à ce qu’une importance croissante soit accordée à l’intervention policière et judiciaire dans la lutte contre les violences domestiques dans le canton de Zurich (Suisse) – une importance reflétée notamment dans l’adoption de la Loi de protection contre la violence domestique de 2006. L’article décrit le travail d’associations féministes d’aide aux victimes et d’institutions étatiques de défense des droits des femmes pour faire reconnaître les violences domestiques comme «problème public», y compris policier et judiciaire. Cette analyse montre comment le succès de cette entreprise, et l’élargissement du champ des actrices et acteurs impliqué-e-s, amène une redéfinition des violences, et s’accompagne d’une euphémisation des rapports sociaux de sexe. Cet article pointe dès lors les tensions dans les rapports entre analyses féministes et dispositif judiciaire et policier dans le cas de la lutte contre les violences domestiques à Zurich. |

| Summary, etc. | This article provides an analysis of the process which led to an increase in police and judicial intervention in domestic violence (DV) cases in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland, and more broadly, to a recognition of DV as a criminal offense. It highlights the work of feminist victim support NGOs and state institutions for women’s rights in bringing the issue of DV to the fore, and their efforts to gain broad state recognition of DV as a social problem and a criminal offense. The article shows that, as police officers and members of the judiciary became more active in stopping and prosecuting perpetrators, the gendered analysis underpinning DV became less prominent in public discourse, while analytical frameworks grounded in forensic psychology became increasingly popular. The case-study that this article presents serves as an example of the tensions underpinning feminist relationships to the Law with regard to DV. |
