| Summary, etc. | Cet article vise à éclairer la signification et les enjeux de la « participation» dans les centres sociaux associatifs du Nord de la France. Les centres se revendiquent comme desacteurs de la démocratie participative; ils se comportent pourtant en gestionnaires de la participation des habitants. Pour le travailleur social médiateur, l'administrateur bénévole ou le bénévole d?activité, les dispositifs participatifs institutionnalisés présentent des contraintes qui interrogent leur place dans l'organisation et le sens de leur action. La faible mobilisation des « habitants» ajoute à la confusion. L?injonction participative contribue ainsi paradoxalement à la crise des valeurs militantes. |

| Summary, etc. | This paper aims to analyse, in a specific context, in the North of France, the relationship between « participative institutions» (in the politics) and « participative democracy» (in the policy). The author studies the impact of the political Participative Norm on three actors of the associative settlements. Social worker, unpaid administrator and voluntary helper believe in Participation but they act under constraint. So they have some difficulties to define their own place in the organization and to justify their action. That?s why « Participative practices» paradoxically contributes to the crisis of militancy. |

| Summary, etc. | Este artículo intenta clarificar el significado y los desafíos de la « participación» en los centros sociales asociativos del norte de Francia. Los centros se presentan como actores de la democracia participativa; sin embargo, se comportan como gestores de la participación de los habitantes. Para el trabajador social mediador, el administrador benévolo o todo aquel que participa de manera benévola, los dispositivos institucionalizados de participación presentan limitaciones que les llevan a interrogarse sobre su sitio en la organización y el sentido de su acción. La escasa movilización de los « habitantes» aumenta la confusión. La exhortación a la participación contribuye así, paradójicamente, a la crisis de los valores del militantismo. |

| Summary, etc. | Der Artikel zielt auf die Analyse der Bedeutung und Herausforderungen von Partizipation in den Sozialzentren in freier Trägerschaft in Nord-Frankreich. Diese Zentren verstehen sich als Akteure einer partizipativen Demokratie, tatsächlich verhalten sie sich aber eher als Verwalter der Bewohnerbeteiligung. Für die Mediatoren und ehrenamtliche Mitarbeiter und Mitarbeiterinnen bedeuten die Formen institutionalisierter Partizipation eher eine Einengung, die ihren Platz in der Organisation und den Sinn ihrer Arbeit beeinträchtigt. Die schwache Mobilisierung von Bewohnern und Bewohnerinnen führt zu weiterer Konfusion, zudem trägt paradoxerweise die verordnete Partizipation zu einer Wertkrise der Aktiven bei. |
