| Summary, etc. | Although digital security systems are largely present and visible in international airports, this article takes a step back from the theme of the issue to look at the importation of a behavioural analysis programme into France. The French ‘évaluation du comportement des personnes’ (ECP) is a human surveillance technique that is a priori far removed from the terrorism prevention model generally implemented in these spaces. This article looks at the usefulness and function attributed to it by professionals at different operational levels in the airport security chain. The analysis is based on a corpus of semi-structured interviews with French agents and on documentary research (professional, legal and institutional literature). It shows how the ECP is used by many actors as a resource to challenge or circumvent the automation and proceduralization of surveillance activities. In these infrastructures where machine vigilance prevails, human or ‘low-tech’ surveillance is a source of prestige and professional distinction. |

| Summary, etc. | Si les outils de sécurité numériques sont particulièrement présents et visibles dans les aéroports internationaux, cet article propose de faire un pas de côté avec la thématique du dossier pour se pencher sur l’importation d’un programme d’évaluation du comportement des personnes (ECP) en France. L’ECP est en effet une technique de surveillance humaine a priori éloignée du modèle de prévention du terrorisme dominant dans ces espaces. L’article interroge alors l’utilité et la fonction que lui attribuent les professionnels selon leur niveau opérationnel dans la chaine de sûreté aéroportuaire. L’analyse s’appuie sur un corpus d’entretiens semi-directifs avec des agents français et une recherche documentaire (littérature professionnelle, légale et institutionnelle). Elle montre comment l’ECP est saisie par de multiples acteurs comme une ressource pour contester ou contourner l’automatisation et la procéduralisation des activités de surveillance. Dans ces infrastructures où la vigilance machinique domine, la surveillance humaine ou « low-tech » constitue une source de prestige et de distinction professionnelle. |
