| Summary, etc. | In Brussels, the promotion of transparency in decision-making processes and relations with interest representatives has been a major concern of left-wing collectives and elected representatives for the past twenty years. How can we explain these actors’ interest in policies that also fall within the scope of neo-managerial reforms? At a time when the ALTER-UE collective of associations and NGOs is announcing its dissolution—almost twenty years after it was founded to defend transparency—how can we assess these struggles? What new instruments and rules have they helped to bring about? What are the wider consequences for organized civil society and the ways in which the common good is defined at EU level? |
