Summary, etc. The existence of geopolitical boundaries recognized by the international community does not guarantee internal cohesion in countries. To transform nominal boundaries into perceived ones, a country’s citizens must be able to integrate them. Most states have had to build a national identity without clear boundaries for citizens to identify with. Education is a basic tool for transmission of this contrived identity. The contents of its history textbooks show how Jordan has fostered an identity common to all its citizens that consequently creates political and cultural boundaries to contain the national community.
