| Summary, etc. | The aim of this article is to develop an epistemological critique of the events that, since Donald Trump took office for a second time in January 2025, have sought to destabilize the world of academic research. I put forward the notion of epistemic shock—since the Trump administration is working hard to undermine the foundations on which trust in science historically rests, namely academic freedom and diversity. I must emphasize that the consequences of what is currently happening in the United States extend well beyond physical and disciplinary boundaries. I am calling for action. A great number of interventions, both large and small, will be needed to defend the foundations on which the credibility and legitimacy of contemporary science have been built, the science in which we are all directly involved. |

| Summary, etc. | Ce texte vise à développer une critique épistémologique des événements qui, depuis la prise de pouvoir par Donald Trump en janvier 2025, visent à déstabiliser le monde de la recherche universitaire. J’avance l’idée d’un choc épistémique – alors que l’administration Trump s’évertue à miner les assises sur lesquelles repose, historiquement, la confiance envers la science, à savoir la liberté universitaire et la diversité. Je souligne que les enjeux découlant des conséquences de ce qui se vit présentement aux États-Unis transcendent largement les frontières physiques et disciplinaires. J’appelle à la mobilisation. Plusieurs actions, petites et grandes, seront nécessaires pour défendre les fondements sur lesquels se sont établies la crédibilité et la légitimité de la science contemporaine, celle à laquelle nous sommes tous partie prenante. |
