Summary, etc. | Naloxone is the antidote for opioid overdoses, widely known and used across the world since the 1970s. Given its effectiveness, excellent safety profile, and the rising number of overdose-related deaths, ready-to-use forms (take-home naloxone or THN) have been developed, enabling users or their loved ones to save lives. The aim of this article is to describe the history of the development of THN and to explain why and how naloxone programs were created internationally. |
