| Summary, etc. | The idea of sustainable performance marks a paradigm shift for the economic world. In this article, we focus in particular on two scientific conversations: the “resocialization of markets,” inspired by the sociology of markets literature; and the emergence of professional occupations informed by the literature on professions and occupations in sociology and management. In the first part of this paper, we provide a brief history of the sustainability-related occupations that have emerged following the growing acceptance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the business community since the 1950s. In the second part, we explain how research on sustainability management professions contributes to a deeper understanding of the evolution of representations in professional practice, which shape how practitioners perceive themselves, their profession, and their practices. Together these discussions allow us to shed light on the evolution of management occupations in the era of sustainable performance. |

| Summary, etc. | L’avènement de la performance durable témoigne d’un véritable changement de paradigme dans le monde économique. Dans cet article, en nous appuyant sur une revue narrative de la littérature qui s’intéresse à cette question, nous proposons et exposons quatre « vagues » de professionnalisation qui ont historiquement façonné le lien entre durabilité et pratique professionnelle en organisation, et qui contribuent collectivement à redéfinir métiers et pratique professionnelle en gestion à trois niveaux : dans la pratique quotidienne, dans la régulation des organisations, et enfin plus fondamentalement dans les relations qu’entretiennent les professionnels avec le « système ». Nous apportons ainsi un éclairage aussi bien pour les chercheurs que pour les praticiens sur ce profond bouleversement en cours qui reconfigure la pratique de la gestion et les déterminants du succès à l’heure de la performance durable. |
