Summary, etc. This research aims to understand the dynamics of the development of the corporate social responsability (CSR) practices of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within an island territory, La Réunion. Why have these companies implemented CSR practices, and how? How is CSR implemented on this island? A qualitative approach allowed various data to be gathered on sixty-three cases from 2016 to 2022, as well as data triangulation. The objective of this article is to identify how SMEs in island territories adopt CSR and create shared value. The results show (1) a predominance of practices designed to promote cooperation with local stakeholders and to preserve the environment, a highly publicized standpoint given climate-energy issues and the problem of food waste; (2) recurring initiatives frequently implemented within each pillar of CSR; (3) persistent difficulties for managers in terms of transparency toward stakeholders and employees’ involvement in the company’s strategy; (4) a particular attachment of managers to their territory and their willingness to show that local skills and resources can be utilized to improve competitiveness.
