Summary, etc. The establishment of cantonal tribunals (jurys), an egalitarian juridiction between former slaves and former masters, aimed at settling labor disputes and controlling violent feelings linked to the memory of slavery. Nevertheless, given the nature of positive law, the pragmatics of the verdicts rendered by the cantonal tribunals above all produced a normative re-translation of the slave condition into that of a dependent individual.
