520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This article looks at the conditions set for the actors of economic life by the states and the actor groups involved in the border district of Sweden and Russia from the beginning of the eighteenth century to the beginning of the nineteenth century. The article focuses on the towns of Vyborg (in Finnish Viipuri, in Swedish Viborg; the town was conquered by Russia in 1710 and annexed to Russia in 1721) and Fredrikshamn (in Finnish Hamina; part of Russia since 1743) located in the so-called Old Finland, i.e. the areas Sweden handed over to Russia in 1721 and 1743. Comparing the towns forms the core of the article, while evaluating the differences in the economic systems and operating principles of Sweden and Russia adds further depth. Moreover, in order to understand earlier research it is important to connect the concepts of history culture and history politics to the historiography on the subject, to facilitate analysis of earlier research. Comparative methods are absolutely integral to this kind of research aimed at contextualization, because comparisons must be made between individuals, groups, and different governmental systems as well as time periods (the effect of the history of cultures on interpretation).
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
