| Summary, etc. | This article analyses the history of the Nordic welfare state, and in particular the development of family policy in the Nordic countries between 1930 and 1975. The empirical case analysis is based on Swedish material. It is concluded that a coalition of state officials and state-appointed experts actively shaped family politics as well as the concept of a family. The underlying assumption of the paper is that the concepts of the family and of family relations are constructed through intertwinning relationsship between the state (exemplified through social and family politics) and social science academics, employed as experts in governemental commissions. |

| Summary, etc. | Cet article analyse l’histoire de l’État-providence nordique et en particulier le développement de la politique familiale dans les pays nordiques entre 1930 et 1975. L’analyse empirique de cas repose sur des sources suédoises. Elle aboutit à la conclusion qu’une coalition de représentants officiels de l’État et d’experts appointés par ce dernier ont travaillé à façonner les politiques familiales ainsi que le concept même de famille. L’hypothèse sous-jacente de l’article est que les concepts de famille et de relations familiales sont en fait construits par l’intermédiaire de relations complexes entre l’État (illustré par sa politique sociale et familiale) et les spécialistes universitaires en sciences sociales employés comme experts dans les commissions gouvernementales. |
