520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. As a clinical psychologist in a center for early medical-social action (CAMSP), the author experienced feelings of anxiety and found it difficult to share the excitement of a mother of a little boy of Indian origin who had disabilities when she announced that she was pregnant again. The author was convinced that, because of the consanguinity in the couple, the new baby would be born with a disability. After a short presentation of Devereux’s theory, the author uses an integrated approach, combining elements of genetics, anthropology, psychology and psychoanalysis, to deconstruct personal and cultural-coded representations of the etiology of certain disabilities. This leads to better empathy with patients and therefore to a more consolidated therapeutic alliance.
