Summary, etc. | The regulated professions are currently a topical subject. Perceived from an economic point of view, their rules and procedures are presented as being an obstacle to growth. To enlighten this debate, a comparison is made here between the specifics of the System in France, its closed nature and lack of influence and competitiveness on what some refer to as the “legal services market”, and in other European countries. The first part of this article highlighted the specific structure of the legal and judicial professions in France. This article adopts a functional point of view, meanwhile, and its findings are less clear cut. While lasting differences do exist, the similarities between the legal and judicial professions in Europe are remarkable. |
