Summary, etc. Multidisciplinary teams are a crucial aspect of work in a nursing home. Nevertheless, the development of new fields of competence, of new management processes as well as the psychological and emotional closeness between staff and residents make nursing homes privileged places for the emergence of professional identities. The total care of elderly subjects excluded from society requires continuous relational adjustments to prevent conflicts. Even if professional identity development mainly results from a personal elaboration process, the institution does contribute to it through lively collaborative feedback. This approach provides the necessary perspective for a proper management of the patients and a better understanding of emotional issues of elderly people in aged care settings.
