| Summary, etc. | Dans quelle mesure les entreprises contribuent-elles à façonner les formes légitimes de la participation politique et sociale ? Jusqu’ici peu explorée, cette question se pose aujourd’hui avec acuité. L’essor d’un capitalisme « éthique » et les efforts des entreprises pour susciter des engagements de la part de leurs salariés, dans l’orbite des politiques de « responsabilité sociale et environnementale » (RSE), viennent en effet percuter les formes classiques de citoyenneté salariale, assises sur le syndicalisme et la représentation collective du personnel. À partir d’une enquête par observations et entretiens menée sur une multinationale de la distribution sportive au Mexique, cet article met en lumière un processus de managérialisation des pratiques civiques. Plutôt que de célébrer la diversité des modes d’engagement des salariés, le management de l’entreprise procède à leur gestion différenciée et hiérarchisée : tandis que les pratiques relevant de la RSE sont valorisées et présentées comme permettant l’accomplissement de la mission citoyenne de l’entreprise, la mise en place d’une représentation collective du personnel reste largement illusoire, en dépit des encouragements induits par la réforme des relations de travail engagée par le gouvernement mexicain. |

| Summary, etc. | To what extent do corporations shape legitimate forms of political and social participation? This is a question that has been little explored in the past but has now become more prevalent. Indeed, the rise of ‘ethical’ capitalism and the efforts of companies to encourage their employees to make commitments, in the orbit of ‘corporate social responsibility’ (CSR) policies, are impacting on traditional forms of industrial citizenship, namely trade unionism and collective representation. Based on observations and interviews conducted at a transnational sports retailer in Mexico, this article highlights a process of managerialization of civic practices. Rather than celebrating the diversity of ways in which employees are involved, the company manages them in a differentiated and hierarchical way: while CSR practices are promoted and presented as enabling the corporation to fulfil its civic mission, the implementation of collective employee representation remains largely illusory, despite the institutional changes provided by the Mexican government’s reform of labour relations. |
