| Summary, etc. | Contemporary society has changed the meaning of taboos, and the perception of sexuality in general. Sexual deviations are no longer scandalous. The taboo of femininity is related to seeing, particularly with regard to blood with all its rites of purification, and with regard to women’s genitals. Transgressions of taboos and prohibitions are connected to female perversions, to the transgression of the feminine, and to the feminine as transgression. Another major taboo is that of frigidity. Finally, the “other” sex—both for men and for women—is always the female one. Beyond the phallic dimension, one always finds the feminine. |
