| Summary, etc. | This article aims to contribute to understanding the formalization dynamics of informal entrepreneur, who is key player in the economic activity in Africa in general and in Niger in particular. A qualitative study of 12 informal micro-entrepreneurs in Niger reveals that the main characteristics of the informal entrepreneur constraining his willingness to formalize include the very small scale of his activities, the inertia he displays in carrying them out, his necessity-driven entrepreneurial motivation, his simultaneous commitment to several activities, and his bounded capacity to access resources. | Summary, etc. | Cet article a pour objectif de contribuer à comprendre la dynamique de formalisation de l’entrepreneur informel qui est un acteur important de l’activité économique en Afrique en général et au Niger en particulier. Une étude qualitative auprès de 12 micro-entrepreneurs informels au Niger montre que les caractéristiques saillantes de l’entrepreneur informel qui contraignent sa disposition à se formaliser concernent la taille très réduite de ses activités, l’inertie qu’il manifeste dans leur réalisation, sa motivation entrepreneuriale par nécessité, son engagement simultané dans plusieurs activités et sa capacité limitée à accéder aux ressources. |
