| Summary, etc. | The author analyses the polish discourse on Ukraine – and also on Russia – and shows that the decisions and actions taken by the Polish political elites during the Ukrainian crisis are in keeping with the neo-Promethean politics implemented in 1990–1991 and show false paradigms, especially regarding the neutral and innocent (Polish) “victim”. Although the importance of Ukraine in the establishment of a new geopolitical balance on a regional scale is undeniable, one should not deduce that Polish eastern policy is conceived strictly in security terms. In fact, Poland is struggling against Russia to finally eliminate its rival from the space connecting the Baltic to the Black Sea and also to build up its power and develop its influence in the post-Soviet area. |
