| Summary, etc. | Supporting the mothers and fathers of preterm infants means supporting their maternal and paternal processes, which are disrupted by the desynchronization of the usual timeline of pregnancy, so that their child is emotionally invested. Based on research and clinical vignettes, we propose a number of theoretical and clinical avenues for reflecting on this kind of support, in particular by supporting parents’ capacity for daydreaming and encouraging bodily experiences while respecting their psychological temporality. We also consider the effects of hospitalization conditions on the development of early bonds. |
