| Summary, etc. | This article begins by reminding us that the sums our politicians are fighting over to avoid “deepening the public debt” are completely out of step with the real needs of the ecological bifurcation. We’re cutting spending by a few billion euros, when we should be thinking in terms of thousands of billions over the coming decades. It proposes to broaden our conception of the perimeter of the economy to include pollination activities, only way to restore a tax base commensurate with ecological challenges. It suggests revisiting past debates around Catholic dogma to understand the strong link between finance and faith, which needs to be rethought in the context of the Anthropocene. |
