| Summary, etc. | The aim of this article is to analyze the representations of certain myths linked to Brazil. To begin with, the focus is put on the nation’s founding myths, such as soccer, diversity and the favelas. Attention then turns to French media representations of these myths during the Não vai ter Copa (“The World Cup will not take place”) social movement, during the 2014 Football World Cup. The collective imaginary about Brazil is challenged first by its population, which recognizes the limits of these myths, and then by the media, which offers a new perspective of this Latino country. |
