| Summary, etc. | In the context of marine biodiversity valorization, this study presents the extraction, characterization, and biological activities of sodium alginate from the Tunisian brown seaweed Cystoseira compressa (CCSA). The extracted alginate (yield: 21.65%) features a structure rich in homopolymeric blocks (GG: 53%, MM:40%, M/G <1), providing strong gel-forming properties. Structural and rheological analyses revealed pseudoplastic behavior, temperature-sensitive viscosity, and thixotropic characteristics. CCSA forms a rigid gel at 4.94 mM CaCl₂ in a 2% solution. Biologically, CCSA showed moderate antioxidant activity (IC₅₀ ≈ 560 µg/mL) and significant antinociceptive effects comparable to high-dose paracetamol. These results open promising perspectives for food, pharmaceutical, and biomedical applications, notably through the formulation of complexes with other natural biopolymers. |

| Summary, etc. | Dans le cadre de la valorisation de la biodiversité marine, cette étude présente l’extraction, la caractérisation et les activités biologiques de l’alginate de sodium issu de l’algue brune tunisienne Cystoseira compressa (CCSA). L’alginate obtenu (rendement : 21,65 %) présente une structure riche en blocs homopolymériques (GG : 53 %, MM : 40 %, M/G < 1), conférant des propriétés gélifiantes élevées. Les analyses structurales et rhéologiques révèlent un comportement pseudoplastique, une viscosité sensible à la température et un caractère thixotrope. CCSA forme un gel rigide à 4,94 mM de CaCl₂ pour une solution à 2 %. Sur le plan biologique, CCSA présente une activité antioxydante modérée (IC₅₀ ≈ 560 µg/mL) et une activité antinociceptive significative, comparable à celle du paracétamol à forte dose. Ces résultats ouvrent des perspectives pour des applications alimentaires, pharmaceutiques ou biomédicales, notamment via la formulation de complexes avec d’autres biopolymères naturels. |
