| Summary, etc. | Sport and physical activity (SPA) in the workplace are thought to be beneficial for improving team cohesion, employees’ well-being and health. Despite preventive efforts from some companies to offer some SPA to their employees, participation rates remain very low, which limit the impacts in terms of health and economic benefits. Organizational constraints and lack of support from managers could be explanatory factors. This paper attempts to understand the reasons for managers’ lack of adherence to SPA in the workplace. 19 semi-structured interviews were conducted with managers (8 middle and 11 first-line managers) to describe and analyze their perception of SPA in the workplace. A thematic analysis was used to meet the objective of this article. On a daily basis, managers are confronted with paradoxical injunctions that prevent them from getting involved in the implementation of SPA in the workplace and thus from promoting them to employee’s, which in turn limits their participation. Better involving managers in the construction of SPA in the workplace could be a solution to overcome some role conflicts and better legitimize SPA in the workplace as an integrated strategy and policy. |

| Summary, etc. | Les activités physiques et sportives (APS) au travail font partie des nouveaux outils pensés comme favorables à la gestion des ressources humaines et capables de soutenir la cohésion des équipes, d’améliorer le bien-être et de protéger la santé des salariés. Malgré ces connotations positives pour le monde entrepreneurial, peu de salariés participent aux dispositifs d’APS en entreprise. Les contraintes organisationnelles et le manque d’engagement des managers pourraient être des éléments explicatifs. Cet article tente alors de comprendre les raisons de ce manque d’engagement des managers face aux APS en entreprise. 19 entretiens semi-directifs ont été menés auprès de managers (8 managers intermédiaires et 11 managers de proximité) afin de décrire et analyser leurs postures face aux APS en entreprise. Une analyse thématique du corpus des entretiens retranscrits a été réalisée afin de répondre à l’objectif de cet article. Les managers semblent vivre au quotidien des injonctions paradoxales qui les empêchent de s’impliquer dans la mise en œuvre des APS au travail et ainsi de favoriser cette démarche auprès des salariés. Consulter et impliquer davantage les managers dans la construction de ces dispositifs permettrait de réduire les conflits de rôles dont ils sont sujets et de davantage légitimer les APS au travail comme une pratique « intégrée » au monde entrepreneurial et constitutive de la vie au travail. |
