| Summary, etc. | Obesity cannot be reduced to a simple somatic illness as this would exclude one of its important psychopathological dimensions, obesity as a means of connecting to the world via one’s weight. Such an attempt to exist through one’s body takes the form of an experience which is determined by the logic of sensations which ensures a way of existing in the world, through the act of filling, in case of an inability to take one’s place through speech, through the metaphore. For this reason the death drive is expressed in a paradoxical way in this context: obesity is both a threat and a means of survival for a subject exploring the limits of their body in order to find a possible anchor. |
