520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This article focuses on the relationship that young people from working-class neighborhoods have with politics and social commitment, from both a historical and socio-spatial perspective. It is based on participatory research conducted with 120 young people over four years in ten working-class neighborhoods in the Paris region. Like youth in general, young people from working-class neighborhoods express distrust and a critical distance toward what they deem to be self-interested “politicking.” However, their relationship to politics is accompanied by multiple forms of commitment. The political socialization of these young people, characterized by the pervasive impact—and a broad but diffuse awareness—of inequality and discrimination, rarely translates into denunciation or political action. Working-class neighborhoods encompass both the social and racial dimensions of inequalities—but do they socialize more than they politicize?
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
