| Summary, etc. | Introduction: The impact of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) related to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and their severity on sexuality remains a subject of controversy. Our study aims to establish the relationship between the severity of LUTS and their impact on sexuality in elderly patients. Methods: This is a cross-sectional analytical study involving 30 patients aged 65 years and older presenting with LUTS associated with erectile dysfunction. The severity of urinary symptoms was assessed using the IPSS score, while erectile dysfunction severity was evaluated using the IIEF-5 score. Results: We observed a statistically significant correlation between the severity of LUTS and erectile dysfunction (coefficient: - 0.52, p = 0.003). A better maximum urinary flow rate was associated with a higher IIEF-5 score, although this correlation was not statistically significant. Conclusion: It is recommended to assess the sexual function of every patient presenting with LUTS, and similarly, to investigate the presence of LUTS in patients consulting for erectile dysfunction. |
