| Summary, etc. | In South Sudan, since the start of 2025, the government of Salva Kiir, with the support of the Ugandan armed forces, has been conducting military operations along with brutal political repression against the SPLM/A-IO, the main opposition movement integrated into the transitional government formed following the 2018 peace agreement. By providing a detailed analysis of this escalation and its concrete effects on the targeted opposition forces, this article shows how this political and military offensive is contributing to the disintegration of the SPLM/A-IO movement and the emergence of new polarisation logics, ushering in a new political phase whose outcome remains uncertain. |
