| Summary, etc. |
| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | In The Star..., so before he becomes with Buber the translator of the new jewishgerman Bible, Rosenzweig relies on the support of a language theory, comparable to Benjamin’s one, which is contemporary with his, and is focused on the idea that, from the very beginning, the sense is laid in names. That leads Rosenzweig to interpret Genesis I in relying, without being conscious, on the support of LXX version, and to miss the syntax and semiotics peculiar to the text. Therefore the sense is not prior to its expression, so Genesis I cannot confirm Rosenzweig’s language conception, no more than Genesis II Benjamin’s interpretation does support his views of the source of the sense. |
