| Summary, etc. | La sociologie ne peut pas être définie comme le contraire pur et simple de l’idéologie moderne. L’ambition qu’elle se donne est plutôt de réussir, de l’intérieur du cadre mental de la modernité, à penser la modernité en tant que cadre mental. Cet article explore deux tentatives remarquables ayant visé à atteindre cet objectif au xxe siècle : celle, dumontienne, de l’analyse idéologique ; celle, maussienne, de l’approche praxéologique. En s’efforçant d’évaluer leurs vertus et limites respectives, il s’agit de déterminer de quelle façon la sociologie pourrait aujourd’hui retrouver l’ambition qui – elle l’ignore trop souvent – est à son fondement. |

| Summary, etc. | Ambition of the SociologySociology cannot be defined as the outright opposite of modern ideology. Its ambition is rather to succeed, from within the mental framework of modernity, to think of modernity as a mental framework. This article explores two remarkable attempts that, at the twentieth century, targeted to achieve this goal : the Dumont’s ideological analysis and the Mauss’s praxeological approach. By assessing their respective virtues and limits, one seeks to determine how sociology nowadays can regain its founding ambition. |
