Dans un contexte médiatique de ‘panique morale’ à ce sujet, on observe une légitimation accrue de l’idéologie de la complémentarité, tandis que l’éventualité d’une interchangeabilité des animatrices et des animateurs devient moins probable. Cela conduit à un renforcement des assignations de genre et de la hiérarchie des tâches selon leur proximité avec le domaine du sale et du soupçon, et introduit une inégalité entre animatrices et animateurs face à ces situations.1 |

The ideology of legitimized gender complementarity in leisure centresThis study in leisure centres shows the way in which the teams of male and female workers are organised is influenced on the one hand by the suspicions of paedophilia that fall more easily on men and on the other the attribution to women of care work in a gendered division of labour. In a media context of “moral panic” on this subject, we see an increased legitimization of the ideology of “complementarity”, while the possibility of interchangeability becomes less probable. This leads to a strengthening of gender norms and a hierarchy of tasks according to how close they are to what is considered dirty or suspicious, and introduces an inequality between men and women in these situations. |
