| Summary, etc. | Dans la Rome antique, deux types de liens nourriciers peuvent se nouer autour de l’enfant : le lien avec une nourrice qui allaite l’enfant pour le compte d’autrui, et le lien entre un enfant abandonné et ses parents nourriciers. Ces deux liens placent l’enfant et ces figures nourricières dans des situations de vulnérabilité qui sont partiellement identifiées par les médecins et les juristes d’époque impériale : vulnérabilité physique et morale du nourrisson, vulnérabilité des parents nourriciers face au titre légitime du paterfamilias. Mais la spécificité du rôle de la nourrice, dont le corps et l’affect sont mobilisés et contrôlés par les parents de l’enfant, donne à cette femme (par opposition à son conjoint, qui peut être lui aussi agent des soins dispensés à l’enfant) une position à la fois plus prestigieuse et plus vulnérable, sur les plans physique, affectif et économique. |

| Summary, etc. | In Ancient Rome, there were two types of nursing bonds that could be created around a child: the bond to a wet nurse who breastfed the child on behalf of someone else, and the bond between an abandoned child and its nursing parents. These two bonds placed the child and these nursing figures in vulnerable positions that were partly identified by the doctors and jurists of the imperial period: the physical and moral vulnerability of the infant, and the vulnerability of the nursing parents that did not possess the legitimate title of paterfamilias. But the specificity of the role of the wet nurse, whose body and emotions were called upon and controlled by the child’s parents, put this woman (unlike her spouse, who may also have been an agent in caring for the child) in a position that was at once more prestigious and more vulnerable, in physical, emotional and economic terms. |

Estos dos vínculos colocan al niño∙a y sus figuras abastecedoras en situaciones de vulnerabilidad que son parcialmente identificadas por los médicos y juristas de la época imperial: vulnerabilidad física y moral del niño de pecho, vulnerabilidad de los padres abastecedores frente al título legitimo del paterfamilias. Pero la especificidad del papel de la niñera, cuyo cuerpo y afecto son movilizados y controlados por los padres del niño∙a, otorgan a esta mujer (a diferencia de su cónyuge que puede ser también el agente de la atención para el niño∙a) una posición a la vez más prestigiosa y más vulnerable, en los aspectos físicos, afectivos y económicos. |
