| Summary, etc. | L’influence du corpus paulinien sur l’œuvre et la pensée d’Hilaire de Poitiers est évidente autant dans l’approche exégétique de l’évêque vis-à-vis des textes bibliques que dans les sujets qu’il traite. Parmi ceux-ci, la justification par la foi fait l’objet d’un développement remarquable dans ses œuvres principales, en particulier dans le Commentarium in Matthaeum, dans laquelle l’évêque de Poitiers souligne la capacité exclusive de la foi pour justifier l’être humain et l’impuissance des œuvres pour l’atteindre. Cette radicalité apparente de son approche dans sa première œuvre connue a donné lieu à une compréhension partiale du traitement que fait Hilaire de la justification par la foi. Dans cet article nous analyserons la véritable nature du rôle que jouent la foi et le mérite pour le salut dans l’ensemble des écrits de l’évêque de Poitiers tout en mettant sa doctrine en contexte avec celle de l’Apôtre. |

| Summary, etc. | The influence of the Pauline corpus on the work and thought of Hilary of Poitiers is evident as much in the bishop’s exegetical approach to biblical texts as in the subjects he he treats. Among these, justification by faith is the subject of a remarkable development in his principal works, in particular in the Commentarium in Matthaeum, in which the bishop of Poitiers emphasizes the exclusive capacity of faith to justify the human being and the powerlessness of works to do so. This apparent radicalism of his approach in his earliest known work has permitted a partial understanding of Hilary's treatment of justification by faith. In this article we will analyze the true nature of the role that faith and merit play in salvation throughout the writings of the Bishop of Poitiers while putting his thought in context with that of the Apostle. |

| Summary, etc. | La influencia de corpus paulino en la obra y en la doctrina de Hilario de Poitiers deja sentir su peso tanto en la aproximación exegética del obispo al texto bíblico como en los temas tratados. Entre ellos, el de la justificación por la fe encuentra un desarrollo notable en sus principales obras, en especial en el Commentarium in Matthaeum, donde el Pictaviense subraya de manera decidida la capacidad exclusiva de la fe para justificar al hombre y la impotencia de las obras para conseguirla. Esta aparente radicalidad del planteamiento contenido en su primera obra conocida ha llevado a entender el tratamiento de la justificación por la fe en Hilario de una manera parcial. En el presente artículo analizaremos la verdadera naturaleza del papel desempeñado por fe y mérito en la salvación en el conjunto de los escritos del obispo de Poitiers, contextualizando su doctrina con la del Apóstol. |
