520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. On the Validity of Biblical Exegesis from a Believer’s Perspective. Two Considerations or Two AnalogiesIn a personal analysis, the author begins by underlining within the catholic confessional position, to which he belongs, the importance of prayer on a practical level. Indeed, prayer presupposes the faith-based conviction of a proportional relationship between human speech and divine listening. This proportional relationship is also implicite in the notion of prophetic speech because the prophets express divine words in a human, concrete and historical language, and the Bible is the written document of these words. This proportion is analogous to the proportion between human words translated from one language to another. Interpreting a translation involves understanding the translated speech and, inseparably, the original speech in its native language, which we ignore since we can resort to its translation. We therefore require a two-fold hermeneutics : that of the translated speech that we directly hear, and that of the original speech implicite in the translated speech but that we indirectly hear.
