| Summary, etc. | Les seniors représentent 30 % des enseignants du premier et du second degré en France. Un constat préoccupant dans la mesure où toutes les recherches menées sur les fins de carrière dans ce secteur professionnel identifient des difficultés à tenir jusqu’à la retraite qui se manifestent par des problèmes de santé physique, mentale, psychique et de récupération ayant des effets à la fois dans l’activité de travail et dans la vie privée. Ces processus de fragilisation semblent plus marqués chez les femmes du fait de phénomènes d’usure prématurée résultant des activités d’articulation des sphères professionnelle et familiale tout au long de leur vie professionnelle. L’absence de suivi médical des enseignants rend leur objectivation difficile.Cet article se propose de discuter des mesures proposées par le ministère de l’Éducation nationale pour accompagner les enseignants en fin de carrière : les espaces d’accueil et d’écoute (EAE) du personnel, le suivi médical des seniors et l’entretien individuel à vingt ans de carrière visant à évaluer leur situation et leurs souhaits de mobilité professionnelle. Nous montrerons que ces dispositifs, dont seul le premier existe encore aujourd’hui, relèvent essentiellement de la prévention secondaire et n’interrogent pas les causes des difficultés du métier partagées par l’ensemble des enseignants aux prises avec des conditions de travail de plus en plus difficiles, un tourbillon de réformes organisationnelles et des programmes, sources d’usure et de perte de sens. Il laisse de côté une réflexion plus fondamentale sur ce que pourraient être des conditions de travail tenables et soutenables dans le temps selon le genre. |

| Summary, etc. | Seniors account for 30 % of teaching staff in primary and secondary education in France. This figure is a cause for some concern given that all the research led on late careers in this occupational sector shows that teachers find it difficult to reach retirement age, reflected in physical health, mental and recovery problems having an impact both on their occupational activity and personal life. This process of fragilization appears to be more significant among women, owing to the difficulties involved in balancing their work and family life throughout their careers. The lack of medical monitoring of teachers makes it difficult to objectivise this phenomenon.This article reviews the measures proposed by the French education ministry to support teachers in late careers, including welcome and counselling spaces for staff, the medical monitoring of seniors, and individual interviews after 20 years in the profession to assess their situation and goals in terms of occupational mobility. We will show that these initiatives, only the first of which has actually been implemented, mainly concern secondary education and do not address the occupational difficulties encountered by all teachers, who are faced with increasingly difficult working conditions and a plethora of organisational reforms and programmes that wear individuals down and erode meaning. It points the way to more fundamental thinking on the possible realistic and bearable working conditions over time and according to gender. |
