L?auteur commente, ici, la thèse du sociologue Zygmunt Baumann qui inscrit l'extermination des Juifs dans la logique instrumentale de la modernité, via les schèmes de l'action bureaucratique et l'établissement criminel d?un principe « d?ingénierie sociale ». S?il salue la percée bienvenue de cette construction, il en pointe aussi une insuffisance. Il y a dans le nazisme un précipité de destructivités fondamentales, de jouissances thanatophiles, dont la thèse de Baumann ne parvient pas à rendre compte. |

The author here comments on sociologist Zygmunt Baumann?s thesis who ascribes the extermination of the Jews to the instrumental logic of modernity, through the schemes of bureaucratic action and through a principle of « social engineering ». Whereas he greets the welcome breakthrough of such a construction, he also points out an insufficiency. Nazism contains a precipitate of fundamental destructiveness, of thanatophilic pleasures, that Baumann?s thesis fails to incorporate. |

El autor comenta la tesis del sociólogo Zygmunt Baumann, que inscribe la exterminación de los Judíos en la lógica instrumental de la modernidad, a través de los esquemas de la acción burocrática y del establecimiento criminal de un principio de « ingeniería social ». El autor acoge favorablemente dicha construcción, no obstante señala una insuficiencia.
