| Summary, etc. | RésuméEn Colombie, le recours à une employée domestique est banal dans toutes les classes sociales. Une loi de professionnalisation des employées fixant leurs droits existe depuis 1992. L’article présente les résultats d’une investigation réalisée en 2009 à Bogotá auprès d’un groupe de femmes chefs de famille qui ont exercé cette activité. Il s’agissait de savoir où passe, pour ces dernières, la ligne de partage entre service et servitude. Les principaux résultats concernent l’intrication psychologique des sphères familiale et professionnelle, en particulier l’articulation entre la persistance de la violence intradomestique et le désir d’être bien traité par les employeurs. Dans l’ordre des priorités psychologiques, être bien traité ( care) est plus important que faire respecter ses droits (justice). |

| Summary, etc. | “Like a checked dog”In Colombia, the hiring of a domestic employee is commonplace in every social class. Since 1992, a professionalising law for the employees that fixes their rights has been set. This paper accounts for the results of an enquiry made in 2009 in Bogotá among a group of head of household women who used to do that job. The aim was to get to know where, according to them, to draw the line between service and servitude. The main results show the psychological intricacy between the family and the professional spheres, more specifically the articulation between the persistence of intra-domestic violence and the wish to be well treated by the employer. The order of priority, from a psychological point of view, puts good treatment (care) before the respect of one’s rights (justice). |

| Summary, etc. | ResumenEn Colombia, el recurso de una empleada doméstica es banal en todas las clases sociales y desde 1992 existe una ley de profesionalización que estipula sus derechos. Este artículo presenta los resultados de una investigación realizada en Bogotá en 2009, con un grupo de mujeres « cabezas de familia » que ejercieron esta actividad. La investigación analiza dónde se encuentra para aquellas la línea de separación entre servicio y servidumbre. Los principales resultados muestran la imbricación psicológica de los ámbitos laborales y familiares, en particular la relación entre la persistencia de la violencia intrafamiliar y el deseo de ser bien tratadas por los patrones. Así, en orden de prioridad psicológica, el buen trato (care) es más importante que hacer valer sus derechos (justicia). |
