| Summary, etc. | L’usage des études de cas, voire de l’étude de cas unique, dans les recherches en gestion semble constituer une approche méthodologique pertinente, au regard du projet de connaissance de cette discipline. Pourtant, les chercheurs qui utilisent ces méthodes sont souvent contraints à redoubler d’efforts pédagogiques et de justification lorsqu’ils présentent leurs travaux dans des conférences ou lorsqu’ils proposent des articles à des revues académiques. Cette situation est sans doute liée à l’absence de consensus autour des apports épistémologiques de cette méthodologie, contrairement à d’autres approches davantage éprouvées. Cet article réflexif propose d’analyser l’intérêt épistémologique de l’usage de l’étude de cas, selon le prisme de la théorie du prototype en sciences cognitives. L’objectif est de dessiner les prémices d’un programme épistémologique de cette méthodologie de recherche. |

| Summary, etc. | The use of case studies, or even the unique case study, in management research seems to constitute a methodological approach that is relevant to the project of knowledge of this discipline. Yet researchers using these methods are often forced to redouble their pedagogical efforts and justification when presenting their work in conferences or when they submit articles to academic journals. This situation is probably related to the lack of consensus around the epistemological contributions of this methodology, unlike other more tried and tested approaches. This reflective article proposes to analyze the epistemological interest of the use of the case study, according to the prism of the theory of the prototype in cognitive sciences. The aim is to draw the beginnings of an epistemological program of this research methodology. |
