Summary, etc. L’article développe des considérations sur les modalités actuelles de conception et de présentation de l’archéologie et de l’histoire de l’art antique dans des travaux de synthèse à finalités principalement didactiques. L’analyse critique de quelques ouvrages récemment publiés permet d’aborder une série de questions concernant les logiques de la transmission du savoir dans le milieu académique, l’utilisation des catégories de l’archéologie et de l’histoire de l’art, aussi bien que l’actuelle dichotomie disciplinaire Grèce/Rome, avec une attention spécialement portée aux implications pédagogiques dans le milieu universitaire français.

Considerations on the manuals of archaeology and of antique art historyThis paper discusses the ways in which archaeology and the history of ancient art are conceived and presented in the works of synthesis with mainly didactic purposes. Critical analysis of some recent books raises some questions concerning the logic of the transmission of knowledge in the academic world, the use of principles of archaeology and history of art, and the actual disciplinary dichotomy between Greece and Rome, with a particular attention to implications in the French university world.

Summary, etc. L’articolo sviluppa alcune considerazioni intorno alle modalità in cui l’archeologia e la storia dell’arte antica sono attualmente concepite e presentate nei lavori di sintesi a finalità principalmente didattica. L’esame critico di alcune opere di recente pubblicazione consente di affrontare una serie di questioni relative alle logiche della trasmissione del sapere in ambito accademico, all’impiego delle categorie di archeologia e di storia dell’arte, così come all’attuale dicotomia disciplinare Grecia/Roma, con un’attenzione particolare ai risvolti pedagogici propri del mondo universitario francese.
