| Summary, etc. | Une hache en bronze provenant de la collection Beugnot et conservée au musée de Rouen se distingue par deux lettres étrusques portées sur la douille. L’inscription, probablement un nom, caractérise l’objet comme une offrande votive ou une pièce funéraire. Mais la hache, que l’on peut dater du iv e ou du iii e s. av. J.‑C., se signale aussi par sa typologie et son décor, qui l’apparentent à trois autres exemplaires anépigraphes ainsi qu’à une hache votive miniature et, surtout, à des représentations figurées, notamment une hache de la célèbre tombe cérétaine des Reliefs. Il est possible que ce type de hache corresponde, comme cela a été suggéré, à un insigne de pouvoir ou de statut politique, appartenant peut‑être à un magistrat étrusque. |

| Summary, etc. | Two Etruscan letters appear on a bronze axe which was formerly in the Beugnot collection and now in the museum of Rouen. Judging from the inscription, probably a name, the axe must have been a votive offering or a funerary object, dating back to the 4th or 3rd cent. bc. It has the same peculiar structure and decoration as three other uninscribed axes and is similar to a miniature votive axe and to images of axes, the most interesting of which are from the famous Tomb of the Reliefs in Cerveteri. This type of axe might be considered a symbol of political power or status, perhaps of an Etruscan magistrate. |
